Tips on how to be a freelance web designer

I have not dreamed of working at home, ever since i graduated as Computer Engineer wanted to work on a multinational company but no luck at all. Working on production companies including automotive and electronics lasted for about less than a year. I think of something helpful to me and my career to progress even at home, a friend of mine and also a co-worker introduced me on homebased freelancing, thanks Vicsante! That opened my mind on how to get a regular job online and work at your convinience at home.

The following guidelines helps me to get clients and be a better freelance web designer:

  1. Know your skillsets – Don’t boasted on your skills that you can do the task even without knowing how to do it. You might end up in space and spent your time in searching for answers you have not known.
  2. Create your resume – Your resume reflects who you are and what you are, everything you write must be specific to your skillsets andbe honest when writing.
  3. Where to get clients – For me craigslist is helpful and the site provide my first fulltime client that lasted for a year. Post your resume on online job directories this will help a lot.
  4. Background check your clients – Have time to check a clients background search on the internet, this prevents you falling to scammers that will waste your time and efforts.
  5. Treat your client with utmost respect – This will provide continous and long term work for you.

This are the tips I followed in home-based freelancing you can have your own list too. If you have any suggestions on this post, don’t hesitate to comment. You can also drop an email if you have further questions and inquiries.
